Traffic Rules at Contabo

Traffic Rules at Contabo

Contabo’s traffic policies vary depending on the product type and whether any additional bandwidth packages are applied.

By default, all products include unlimited incoming traffic at no additional cost.

For details specific to your server, please refer to the relevant product line below:

VPS (Virtual Private Servers)

Incoming Traffic:
Incoming traffic is unlimited and unmetered. No extra charges apply.

Outgoing Traffic:
Each VPS includes up to 32 TB of outgoing traffic per month (10 TB in Australia and Japan).

If the average outgoing bandwidth exceeds 100 Mbit/s for 10 consecutive days, the port speed will be throttled to 100 Mbit/s.

VDS (Virtual Dedicated Servers)

Incoming Traffic:

Incoming traffic is unlimited and unmetered. No extra charges apply.

Outgoing Traffic:

By default, each VDS includes up to 32 TB of outgoing traffic per month (10 TB in Australia and Japan).

If the average outgoing bandwidth exceeds 100 Mbit/s for 10 consecutive days, the port speed will be throttled to 100 Mbit/s.

With Additional Bandwidth Package, different thresholds apply:

  • 80 TB package: throttled to 250 Mbit/s if average bandwidth exceeds 250 Mbit/s for 10 consecutive days.
  • 160 TB package: throttled to 500 Mbit/s if average bandwidth exceeds 500 Mbit/s for 10 consecutive days.
  • 240 TB package: throttled to 750 Mbit/s if average bandwidth exceeds 750 Mbit/s for 10 consecutive days.

This ensures you stay within your subscribed traffic package and avoid additional charges.

Dedicated Servers

Incoming Traffic:
Incoming traffic is unlimited and unmetered. No extra charges apply.

Outgoing Traffic:
Outgoing traffic is unlimited and unmetered by default.

To maintain fair network performance for all customers, traffic usage must align with typical server workloads. If the usage is exceptionally high or disruptive, Contabo reserves the right to throttle servers at its own discretion. Such measures are rare and only applied to preserve fair access.
