What is Ollama?

Ollama is a tool that allows you to run language models locally on your own computer. It simplifies downloading, managing, and interacting with models such as Microsoft’s Phi series.

Phi is a family of small language models (SLMs) developed by Microsoft. These models are designed to be efficient and lightweight, which makes them suitable for running on devices such as laptops or phones.

After ordering your Contabo VPS/VDS, you'll receive your credentials in your order confirmation email. The initial password for your 1-Click application will be the one you set during the order process. You can also find all your login information anytime in the Contabo Customer Panel, under the detailed view of your VPS/VDS

What can you do with Ollama Phi4?

Phi4 is optimized for various tasks, such as:

• Advanced mathematical problem-solving and logical reasoning
• Extracting and structuring data
• Helping with coding and scripting tasks.

Once the model is downloaded, it can run locally without requiring an active internet connection.

How to install Ollama Phi4?

⚠️ Firewall Notice: If you are using the Contabo Firewall (see Firewall: What is it and how does it protect my VPS/VDS?), make sure to allow the required ports for accessing and managing your application:

• 22 (SSH) - for server access
• 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS) - for web access to the application

Step 1: Log in to the Customer Control Panel

1. Log in to the Customer Control Panel.

2. Navigate to Servers & Hosting - VPS/VDS.

3. Locate the VPS/VDS where you want to install Ollama Phi4.

Step 2: Start the installation

1. Click the Quick Action (⋮) menu next to the VPS/VDS.

2. Select Reinstall.

Step 3: Select Application Installation

1. In the installation window, switch to the Application Installation tab.

2. From the application list, select Ollama - phi4.

Step 4: Set the admin password

1. Enter an Admin Password.

   • Make sure to store the password. This password is required to access the server via SSH.

2. Review the information note:

   • Contabo provides technical support for the VPS/VDS 
   • For Ollama Phi4 configuration and usage, please refer to the OpenClaw documentation.

Step 5: Start the installation

1. Click Install to begin.

2. Ollama Phi4 will be installed.

⏳ The installation may take several minutes.

⚠️If you're using the Firewall feature, you need to allow the following ports for the application to function:


• 22 (ssh) 
• 80 (http) 
• 443 (https)

Step 6: Access your application

After installation, you can access your application directly in your browser.

You can find the URL in the Customer Panel:

• Navigate to your VPS/VDS via Servers & Hosting
• Click on your instance under Instance Name

• Scroll down to Applications and click on the URL.

⚠️Please note that it may take up to 30 minutes for the application to be fully installed and available.

Step 7: Sign in

Upon clicking on the URL, sign in to Ollama Phi:

• Username: root@hostname (e.g. root@vmi123456)
• Password: admin password that you set up during installation

At this point, Ollama - phi4 is installed and running on your VPS/VDS. 

Important

• Only one application can be installed per server
• The link will open the application you selected during installation (e.g. Dokploy or Ollama)
• No SSH setup is required for basic usage
