Why am I Unable to Create Virtual Machines with Hyper-V on a Virtual Dedicated Server?

Why am I unable to create Virtual Machines with Hyper-V on a Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS)?

Virtual Dedicated Servers have their own dedicated hardware resources and support nested virtualization, so you can install your own virtual machines on a VDS.

This is true for VDS with both Linux and Windows operating systems.

On a VDS with a Windows operating system, there is a common problem with Hyper-V that prevents the creation and use of virtual machines. Microsoft is already aware of this, but a Microsoft fix will most likely take a very long time; too long to wait for.

As an alternative, you can use VMware Workstation Player as your virtualization software, which has been tested and confirmed to work.
