What does a data processing agreement with Contabo cover?

A data processing agreement is a contract between Contabo and its customer that governs the processing of personal data by Contabo on behalf of its customer, in accordance with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• ‘personal data’ means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person; an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.
  
  
• ‘processing’ means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.
  
  

How can I create a data processing agreement?

1. Log in to the Customer Control Panel.
2. Click on "Data Processing Agreement" from the blue "control panel" on the left hand side of the page.
3. Click the "Create new Data Processing Agreement" button.
4. A window will open up with your customer details. Check that everything is OK. Once you're happy that your customer details are correct click the "Confirm & Continue" button.
5. Select the services for which you wish to create the Data Processing Agreement using the checkboxes on the left hand side of the window.
6. Once you've selected the services for which you wish to create a data processing agreement, click the "Next" button.
7. You should see a new window open that looks like this:
   
   
   You have the option include the contact details of your data protection officer in the data processing agreement. If you would like to include the contact details of your data protection officer click check box and you will get some text boxes to add the contact information as shown here:
   
   
   Either fill in the contact information or leave the checkbox unchecked. Once you're happy with the options selected click the "Continue" button.
8. The next screen allows you to select the types of data that you and your authorized users will store on the service. Select the different types of data by checking the box next to each option.
9. Review the options you've selected, when you're happy click the "Continue" button.
10. In the next window you can select the categories of your data subjects. Click the checkbox next to the types of data subjects your service will use.
11. Review the options you've selected and when you're happy click the "Continue and Create Preview" button.
12. In the next window, you'll be able to view a PDF preview of the data processing agreement you've created. When you're satisfied, click the checkbox below the PDF and click the "Conclude Data Processing Agreement" button.

The data processing agreement should then be created and you can review it in the "Data Processing Agreement" of the Customer Control Panel.
