Migrating to the new Customer Panel
Customer Panel login migration: What happens to my credentials?
Contabo is retiring the old Customer Panel on October 12, 2026. This article explains what to expect.
Do I need to do anything right now?
In most cases, no. Migration happens automatically the next time you log in, based on which login system you use. See the scenarios below for what to expect.
What happens when I log in?
If you have never logged in to the new Customer Panel before:
You can still log in with your existing username and password. After that succeeds, you'll be asked to set up a new password due to security reasons - this becomes your one and only password going forward. If you previously had two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled, you must first enter your existing 2FA code before you can proceed - this is a required security check. Only after that will you be able to set up 2FA again in the new panel, since 2FA settings are not carried over automatically. You'll then be shown a set of new backup/recovery codes - save these somewhere safe, as they replace your old single recovery code, and Contabo cannot retrieve them for you.
If you have already logged in to the new Customer Panel before:
If you already have set up a password for the new Customer Panel, log in with these credentials.
If you haven't set up a password for the new Customer Panel yet, your old Customer Panel credentials will still be accepted. You'll be prompted to set up a new password before you can continue.
If you don't remember your password, click Forgot Password? to reset it.
If you enter incorrect credentials:
You'll see a standard "invalid credentials" message, as with any login attempt today.
What about password resets?
If you request a password reset, the process depends on your account status:
- If you already have the credentials to the new Customer Panel, the reset applies to that account - follow the link sent to your email as usual.
- If you've never set up the credentials for the new Customer Panel, requesting a reset will guide you through a password reset form.
Placing orders on contabo.com
If you're logging in while placing an order on our website, you can use either your old or your new credentials and complete the order process. If you log in with your new credentials, the old ones will become invalid, and you should use the new credentials from then on.
Two-factor authentication (2FA)
2FA configuration does not transfer automatically between the old and new systems. If you had 2FA enabled previously, you will be prompted to set it up again (new TOTP authenticator) the first time you complete the migration steps above. You will receive multiple new recovery codes at that point - please store them securely, as Contabo does not have access to them.
What happened to Contacts in the old panel?
Contacts in the old panel weren't moved to the new Customer Panel. If someone on your team relied on being a contact, the replacement is a sub-user account.
How do I set up sub-users?
You set up sub-users in the new CCP under Account > User Management > Create User. A sub-user is a separate login for a team member, with permissions that you, as the main user, assign. Sub-users can open support tickets in the new Customer Panel themselves categorized based on their role.
You choose what each Sub-User can access, from full access to specific areas such as billing or Object Storage.
See How can I add more users under my account? for step-by-step guidelines.
Existing sub-users weren't affected by the switch and keep logging in as before.
Where are my Dedicated Server features?
Dedicated Server features that were still in the old panel are now in a separate area, which you open from the corresponding menu item in the new Customer Panel. The area only contains the features still needed for Dedicated Servers.
You can't open the Dedicated Server area directly, so bookmarks to pages in the old panel won't take you there. It's one extra click compared to a bookmark.
Invoices and payments for Dedicated Servers stay in the new Customer Panel, where they've been handled for over a year.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my old login stop working? Yes - once your account has completed the one-time migration (automatically triggered on your next login or password reset), your old credentials are removed, and you'll use the credentials for the new customer panel from then on.
What happens to my 2FA recovery code from the old panel? It becomes invalid. You'll set up new 2FA and receive new recovery codes during the migration step.
Do I need to create new credentials separately before October 12? No. If you haven’t used the new customer panel, you will be able to log in with your old credentials at the new Customer Panel and prompted to set up a new password.
