I can't login to my account with multi-factor authentication, what can I do?

If you’re unable to log in due to the multi-factor authentication (MFA), the next steps depend on whether you still have any of your MFA recovery codes.

If you have your multi-factor authentication recovery codes

If you still have your recovery codes, you can regain access and reset MFA during login.

  1. Open the login page
    Go to my.contabo.com.
  2. Enter your login details
Enter your email address and password as usual.
  3. Use your recovery code
When prompted for a one-time code, enter one of your MFA recovery codes instead. Each can only be used once.
  4. Log in and reconfigure MFA
Once logged in, you’ll need to set up MFA again under:
    Account → Security & Access → Authentication.

If you don’t have your recovery code/got locked out

If you no longer have access to your authenticator app and don’t have your recovery code, or your account has been locked out due to too many invalid one-time password attempts, please fill out the account recovery form.
