Migrating to the new Customer Panel: Login, password and 2FA
Summary
We have moved all accounts to the new Customer Panel. You don't need to prepare anything. The next time you log in, the Customer Panel guides you through the switch step by step. If you use two-factor authentication (2FA), keep your authenticator app ready.
Your first login to the new Customer Panel
This is how your first login works if you have never logged in to the new Customer Panel:
- Go to my.contabo.com and log in with your email address and your current password.
- Only if you had 2FA set up in the old Customer Panel: Enter the one-time code from your authenticator app. You can't continue without this code.
- Set a new password. From now on, this is your only password.
- Only if you had 2FA set up in the old Customer Panel: Set up 2FA again with your authenticator app. Your old settings are not carried over.
- Only with 2FA: Save your new recovery codes in a safe place.
You have logged in to the new Customer Panel before
You have already set a password there: Log in with your email address and that password. If you log in with your old password, you will be logged out and asked to log in with your new password.
You haven't set a password there yet: Your current password still works. After you log in, you set a new password.
If you use 2FA, you'll see new recovery codes the first time you log in. Save them in a safe place.
Resetting your password
On the login page, click Forgot Password?.
- You already have a password for the new Customer Panel: We'll send you a link by email. Follow the link and set a new password.
- You don't have a password for the new Customer Panel yet: A form opens. Set your new password there.
Which 2FA code do I need?
- You don't use 2FA: You don't need a code.
- You only set up 2FA in the new Customer Panel, or you already have new recovery codes: Use the code from the new Customer Panel entry in your authenticator app.
- In all other cases: Use the code from the old Customer Panel entry in your authenticator app, or your old recovery code.
Not sure? Try the code for the new Customer Panel first. If it doesn't work, use the code for the old Customer Panel.
Two-factor authentication and recovery codes
Your 2FA settings are not carried over automatically. You set up 2FA again during your first login, as described above.
Instead of a single recovery code, you now get several. They let you into your account if you can't access your authenticator app. Keep the codes safe. Contabo has no access to them and cannot restore them.
Your old recovery code works exactly once more, together with your old password. After that, it is no longer valid. It also stops working once the switch is complete.
Team access: Contacts become sub-users
Contacts from the old Customer Panel were not carried over. If someone on your team was listed as a contact, create a sub-user for them.
A sub-user is a separate login for a team member. You decide what each sub-user can access: everything, or only specific areas such as billing or Object Storage. Sub-users can open support tickets themselves.
To create a sub-user, go to Account > User Management > Create User. For detailed instructions, see How can I add more users under my account?
Existing sub-users are not affected and log in as usual.
Dedicated Servers
Some Dedicated Server features are not in the new Customer Panel yet. For these features, we temporarily redirect you to the old Customer Panel. Open them from the matching menu item in the new Customer Panel. Bookmarks to pages in the old Customer Panel no longer work for this.
We know that switching between the two panels is inconvenient. We are moving the missing features to the new Customer Panel as quickly as we can.
You can already find invoices and payments for Dedicated Servers in the new Customer Panel.
Ordering on contabo.com
When you place an order on our website, you can log in with your old or your new password. As soon as you have logged in once with your new password, the old one is no longer valid.
Still stuck?
If you can't log in at all, fill in the account recovery form. We'll restore your access as quickly as we can.
