I can’t log in to the Contabo Customer Panel

Contabo's Customer Panel is available at my.contabo.com. This article explains how to log in, what happens to your existing credentials, and how to reset your password.

⚠️ You need an active subscription to access the Customer Panel. If you don't have one, you can regain access by placing a new order.

Table of Contents

Logging in

  1. Open my.contabo.com.
  2. Enter your email address and password.
  3. Click Log in.

Your Customer Panel credentials also work for the Contabo Help Desk.

First login after the switch: what happens to my credentials?

You don't need to do anything in advance. Your credentials are migrated automatically the next time you log in.

If you have never logged in to the Customer Panel at my.contabo.com

  1. Log in at my.contabo.com with your existing username and password (from the email "Your login data!" or the one you changed it to later).
  2. If you had 2FA enabled, enter your existing 2FA code first. This security check is required.
  3. Set a new password. For security reasons, this becomes your only password going forward.
  4. Set up 2FA again with a new authenticator app (TOTP). 2FA settings are not carried over.
  5. Save the new backup/recovery codes shown to you in a safe place. They replace your old single recovery code, and Contabo cannot retrieve them for you.

If you already have a password for new.contabo.com

Log in with it as usual.

If you logged in before but never set a password for new.contabo.com

Your old credentials are still accepted. You'll be prompted to set a new password before you continue.

If you enter incorrect credentials, you'll see a standard "invalid credentials" message.

Once your account has completed the one-time migration, your old credentials are removed. Use your new credentials from then on.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

  1. Open my.contabo.com.
  2. Click Forgot password?
  3. Enter the email address linked to your Contabo account and click Submit.
  4. Open the email you receive shortly after and follow the link to reset your password.

What happens next depends on your account:

  • You already have credentials for the new panel: the reset applies to that account.
  • You've never set up credentials for the new panel: the reset guides you through a password reset form. This also completes your migration.

Still can't log in?

Submit the Account Recovery Form

Make sure to prepare the required identification documents before filling in the form.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

2FA is not transferred automatically. If you had 2FA enabled before, you'll be asked to set it up again with a new authenticator app the first time you complete the migration steps above. You'll receive several new recovery codes at that point. Store them securely, because Contabo cannot access them. Your old recovery code becomes invalid.

Placing orders on contabo.com

If you log in while placing an order on our website, you can use either your old or your new credentials. If you log in with your old credentials, the migration steps above apply. After you log in with your new credentials, the old ones become invalid.

Contacts and sub-users

Contacts from the previous panel were not moved to the Customer Panel. If a team member relied on being a contact, give them a sub-user account instead. A sub-user is a separate login with permissions you assign, from full access to specific areas such as billing or Object Storage. Sub-users can also open support tickets themselves, categorized by their role.

To create one, go to Account > User Management > Create User. For step-by-step instructions, see How can I add more users under my account?

Existing sub-users were not affected and log in as before.

Dedicated Server features

Dedicated Server features that were previously in the old panel are now in a separate area. Open it from the corresponding menu item in the Customer Panel. It contains only the features still needed for Dedicated Servers. You can't open this area directly, so old bookmarks won't take you there. It's one extra click.

Invoices and payments for Dedicated Servers remain in the Customer Panel, where they've been handled for over a year.
